Burlingame State Campground to start taking reservations this week

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Burlingame State Campground is opening for the summer with some new shower and restroom facilities.

In a press release Monday, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management announced that reservations for the campground will be opening for the season on Wednesday, June 10, with Friday, June 12, being the first night campers will be able to stay at Burlingame.

The campground’s opening date was delayed due to construction on the six new facilities, which the DEM said will be modern, accessible and gender-neutral, with indoor and outdoor coin-operated showers. Three of those new facilities will be open this season.

The project is being completed in two phases. The first phase removed and replaced the outdated facilities in the Mills Camp, Midpark North and Fish Camp areas.

The second phase will involve the facilities in the Main, Midpark South and Legiontown areas and is expected to be completed in April 2027…
