Eligible Rhode Island Energy customers with newly installed advanced meters can now use a free app from Sense to get a clearer, real-time view of what is driving their electric bills.

According to a joint announcement from Rhode Island Energy and Sense, the feature became available on Sept. 2 for eligible customers whose advanced meters are compatible with the service.
Customers can use the app to watch their home’s electricity demand rise and fall in real time. That can help reveal when heating or cooling equipment turns on, whether an appliance seems to be operating longer than expected, or if a device may have been left running.
The app can also show historical usage across multiple time periods, from a single day to an entire billing cycle, and allows customers to set alerts for unusual increases.
