N.Y. Weather: Thunderstorms threaten parts of state with flash flooding

New York City, southern Westchester, and western Long Island are under a flood watch from 2 p.m. Thursday through late Thursday night. The National Weather Service is warning of potential flash flooding as heavy rain moves through the region.

Peak hourly rainfall rates could reach around two inches, with total rainfall amounts expected between 1.5 and 2.5 inches, and locally higher amounts possible.
