Severe thunderstorms swept across the New York region Thursday evening, bringing heavy rain, flooding and reports of possible tornado activity in Queens and Nassau County.
The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for parts of Queens and Nassau County as the storms moved across Long Island. The warning remained in effect until 7:15 p.m., with residents urged to seek shelter.
