Raleigh Pizza Boss Launches Mikey’s, a Slice Arcade for the Kids

Raleigh’s Wake Forest Road corridor is getting a new spot for both cheese pulls and sugar highs. Michael Longo, the operator behind Vic’s pizzerias, is rolling out a new family-focused concept called Mikey’s Pizzeria at McNeill Pointe, the shopping center just off Wake Forest Road. The 2,700-square-foot space at 2320 Bale St. is set to seat about 40 to 50 diners inside, with additional outdoor seating, and Longo says he is planning arcade games, a kids’ pizza-making station and a shared courtyard, with an opening targeted for late June or early July.

According to The News & Observer, Longo has signed a lease for the former Pizza & Pints space. The paper reports that Mikey’s menu will feature pizza by the slice and 18-inch pies, along with appetizers, sandwiches, chicken wings, plus beer and wine, with pasta potentially joining the lineup later.

Longo’s local footprint

Longo already operates Vic’s Pizzeria locations on Glenwood Avenue and at Triangle Town Center and is part of the Longo family that runs Vic’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria downtown at City Market. The family’s recent growth, including plans for a North Hills location on Six Forks Road, has been tracked by Hoodline.

What to expect inside

In a Facebook video and an interview, Longo told The News & Observer that he set out to create a more kid-friendly pizzeria concept. “I’m going to have a little pizza station for kids to actually make their own pizza,” he said, adding that the shop will feature arcade games “for the children, adults as well.”…
