RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — North Carolina House Speaker Destin Hall said budget negotiations between the House and Senate are progressing, though lawmakers still remain at odds over several major issues, including tax cuts and pay raises for state employees.
Speaking with reporters at the General Assembly in Raleigh on Thursday, Hall said while they haven’t reached an agreement, they have made “substantial progress.”
“It’s one of those things where we started the thing off very far apart,” he said. “And, the two sides are certainly much closer together now. There’s not a deal yet. I think there’s a path to get a deal done, and so I hope that happens soon.”…
