Military Road project set to start with major changes ahead for North Valleys drivers

Construction on a $35 million project to widen and improve Military Road in the North Valleys is set to begin June 15, bringing long-planned upgrades and traffic changes for drivers in the growing corridor.

The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County and Spanish Springs Construction will break ground on the Military Road Capacity and Safety Project, which is funded through Regional Road Impact Fees paid by developers to support transportation needs tied to growth.

The project will widen Military Road from two lanes to four between Lemmon Drive and Lear Boulevard. Plans also include intersection improvements, new traffic signals, a shared-use path, sidewalks and drainage upgrades aimed at improving safety, mobility and connectivity along the corridor…
