RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A man accused of killing a woman in Incline Village appeared in court today as a judge considers whether he is competent to stand trial.
Nicholas Powell faces a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon in the death of 59-year-old Susan Powell. She was found dead in January 2025.
Two doctors from Lake’s Crossing in Reno, a maximum-security psychiatric facility where Powell is staying, testified in Washoe County District Court today that they believe Powell is uncooperative with his doctors, dismissive and a competent. The court ran out of time on the calendar and a third doctor is expected to testify Monday afternoon before Judge Egan Walker makes a decision on if Powell is able to move forward with court proceedings…
