RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Nevada Urban Indians, Inc. is hosting its annual back-to-school event Friday, July 17, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 9840 Gateway Drive, Suite 100, in Reno.
The free community event is open to all families and will offer free backpacks, school supplies, food, vaccines and sports physicals. Backpacks and supplies are available while supplies last.
What’s in the backpacks
Program Director Nathan Jersey said the backpacks are stocked with basic school items.
“Notebooks, folders, pens, highlighters, glue sticks — and it’s not exactly aligned with the Washoe County School District, but we did our best and we really fill them to the best of our capacity,” Jersey said…
