Update, 6:40 p.m.: Forward progress on the Peavine Fire has been stopped at an estimated 100 acres, according to Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue. Crews have entered the mop-up phase and are securing the fire line. Firefighters are expected to remain on scene into the night.
Update, 5:45 p.m.: The Peavine Fire has grown to an estimated 115 acres near the base of Peavine Mountain north of Reno. Level 2 evacuation warnings, which mean residents should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice, have been issued for nearby neighborhoods.
