Hazardous materials crews responded Monday to an apartment complex in Reno after residents reported a strong, unexplained odor inside the building.
The Reno Fire Department says people living at the Truckee River Terrace apartments first noticed the smell in a fourth-floor hallway. Several residents reported throat irritation and discomfort, prompting a response from emergency crews.
As a precaution, officials issued a shelter-in-place order for residents on the fourth and fifth floors while investigators worked to identify the source and evaluate air quality.
