Northern Nevada at center of proposed uranium project

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A proposed uranium project on the Nevada/Oregon border is drawing national attention, with the potential to bring jobs to the region while reopening long-standing questions about nuclear development in the Silver State.

The project, known as the Aurora Uranium Project, is located near McDermitt along the Oregon-Nevada border. While the mining would take place primarily on the Oregon side, the company behind it says parts of the operation could extend into Nevada, including a proposed processing facility.

Eagle Nuclear Energy, the company advancing the project, is headquartered in New York and Vancouver and has said it plans to establish an office in Reno. Spotlight on America recently visited the area for their reporting.
