Traffic stop leads to arrest, explosive device recovered near Reno

A routine traffic stop by Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies led to the arrest of a man and the recovery of an explosive device found inside a car.

According to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office in an online post, deputies contacted a driver identified as 36-year-old Kenneth Francis during the stop. Francis had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. Deputies also reported finding brass knuckles in his possession. An explosive device was then discovered inside the car.

Members of the regional Consolidated Bomb Squad responded to the scene, safely recovered the device, and rendered it safe, according to the post…
