RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Among the issues coming to ballots across Central Virginia this November is a possible 1% sales tax increase that would fund school construction.
Nearly a dozen localities in Central Virginia will introduce a referendum asking residents to vote yes or no on a 1% increase to their existing sales tax. These additional funds will be directed solely to significant school renovations or construction.
The Central Virginia localities that have, at the time of publication, approved adding this referendum to their ballots are Chesterfield, Essex, King and Queen, Middlesex, New Kent, Orange, Powhatan, Prince Edward and Sussex counties, as well as the city of Emporia…
