City of Richmond begins transfer of medical 911 calls to Richmond Ambulance Authority after lengthy debate

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The city of Richmond announced Monday that it has begun transferring all medical 911 calls to the Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA) following a lengthy debate over how the two should handle such calls.

The change went into effect at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 27, and will change how medical calls are processed; however, it won’t change residents’ access to emergency services.
