Darby House fire relief: The cost of starting over

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) – About a month after a July 4 fire displaced more than 100 residents at Darby House, United Way says the recovery fund is being depleted quickly and more donations are needed to move seniors into permanent homes.

The United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg’s Darby House Fire Recovery Fund launched shortly after the fire.

An anonymous donor contributed $50,000, followed by a $30,000 gift from a foundation. Combined with individual donations, the fund has reached approximately $80,000…
