Police search prompts lockdown at Southside Regional Medical Center

PETERSBURG, Va. — Update as of 8:35 a.m. 2/13/24:

Bon Secours has sent the following statement to CBS 6, “The safety, security and well-being of our patients, associates and community is a top priority for Bon Secours. Late yesterday afternoon, Bon Secours Southside Medical Center was made aware of a suspicious individual making violent threats against the hospital. This individual was immediately removed from the premises and since then, we have been working closely with Petersburg Police and have increased our security presence. Around 1 a.m. this morning the lockdown was lifted, however, we continue to work closely with local authorities.”

Southside Regional Medical Center (SRMC) was placed on lockdown as police searched for a man believed to be involved in a domestic dispute with a hospital employee.

Petersburg Police have not yet provided details about the person they’re looking for in and around the hospital. located along the 200 block of Medical Park Boulevard.
