FRANKLIN CO., Va. – Members of Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren are asking Franklin County leaders to slow discussions surrounding a potential data center development near Summit View Business Park, saying they are concerned about the impact such a project could have on their church, cemetery and surrounding community.
The church, which has stood outside Rocky Mount for nearly 180 years, borders Summit View Business Park. While no data center project has been announced for the site, many residents have identified the business park as a possible location because of its available land and by-right industrial zoning, which could allow certain developments to move forward with fewer public hearings.
“We’re asking for, as a church, to just put a pause, the brakes on this whole procedure and have the supervisors do their due diligence,” said Bill Corn, a member of the church’s leadership team…
