VT softball transfer has temporary injunction for eligibility denied

MONTGOMERY Co., Va. (WDBJ) – Virginia Tech graduate senior Bre Warren has been denied a temporary injunction that would have allowed her to finally suit up for the Hokies softball team.

As previously reported, Warren transferred from South Carolina to Virginia Tech this past offseason, but was ruled by the NCAA to have used her eligibility during her time at Texas A&M and South Carolina. Warren, however, alleges advisors at South Carolina incorrectly told her she was not eligible to transfer. As a result, she says she sat out the following school year.

NCAA bylaws state athletes have five years to complete four seasons. If she had been allowed to play, 2026 would have been Warren’s sixth in college softball. However, Warren maintains bad academic advice at South Carolina, as well as a coaching change, denied her the ability to play…
