HOMETOWN HEALTH: One in four Americans uses AI for healthcare advice instead of doctors

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – One in four Americans use artificial intelligence for physical and mental healthcare advice, according to a West Health Gallup Center survey.

The survey found the biggest reason people said they used AI for medical advice is because they wanted answers quickly. Roughly 60% of people said they used AI before or after seeing a doctor, but in many cases, people said they went to AI instead of going to a doctor at all.

Recent studies have shown as much as half of the health information provided by AI is inaccurate or incomplete.
