ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia has seen a lot of warm, dry and sunny weather recently, but that is also a perfect recipe for brush fires.
Our WFXR weather team has most of Central and Southwestern Virginia under a severe drought, and that’s unlikely to change in the near future.
“What we really need is a widespread soaking rain to help with the fire weather conditions, but also help with the drought that’s in place,” WFXR meteorologist Kara Thompson said. “What we’re expecting for the next several days is maybe a few chances for some rain, but they’re only producing light rainfall amounts.”…
