Traffic stops in Rockbridge, Botetourt counties lead to meth charges

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A traffic stop in Rockbridge County earlier this year led to a drug charge after a second stop months later uncovered more illegal drugs, authorities say.

On Feb. 7, special agents with the James River Regional Drug Task Force and deputies from the Rockbridge County and Lexington sheriff’s offices stopped a vehicle in the 4400 block of South Lee Highway in the Natural Bridge area.

According to law enforcement, the driver, identified as 45-year-old Jessica Belle Broughman, of Natural Bridge, was found with about 30 grams of methamphetamine after a K-9 conducted an open air sniff and alerted authorities to the presence of illegal drugs…
