Ultrarunner Posts Blue Ridge Double Marathon Record

The Blue Ridge Marathon isn’t for the faint of heart. The Roanoke-based event is rightfully known as “America’s Toughest Road Race,” as the 26.2-mile course features 7,430 feet of elevation change and grueling climbs of Roanoke Mountain, Mill Mountain, and Peakwood.

But for some runners that’s not enough, so in 2017 the race organizers added a double marathon that gives a limited number (150) of participants the option to complete the epic course twice.

At the event’s most recent installment on April 18, a new course record was set at the double marathon by Jordan Chang, an accomplished ultrarunner who once told us all about why running is his “happy place.”…
