ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The 40th annual Harborfest at Ontario Beach Park is set to kick off on Thursday evening as much of the region is under a high wind warning.
News10NBC has issued a Yellow Alert on Thursday for strong winds that could cause damage and power outages. The beach could see winds between 40 and 50 miles per hour. You can see the latest forecast here.
During Fairport Canal Days earlier this month, a tree branch fell on a tent, injuring multiple people, during strong winds. If winds pick up, stay away from any tall or old trees.
Schedule and what’s new
Harborfest runs through Sunday, with free admission, and some events will celebrate America’s 250th birthday. This year’s festival includes professional and amateur sand sculpting demonstrations, a visit from a historic ship, waterskiing, an acrobatic show, a beach volleyball tournament, carnival games, rides, live music, and more.
