Former Upstate NY police officer threatened FBI agent’s kids, gets federal prison time

A former Upstate New York police officer will spend more than a year in federal prison for threatening the family of an FBI special agent at their home.

Steven L. Ploof, 48, of Greece, N.Y., was sentenced to 14 months in prison on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca. Ploof was convicted of threatening to assault a member of the immediate family of a federal law enforcement officer with intent to impede or retaliate against the officer’s official duties, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.
