Most golfers spend their Sunday afternoons worrying about sand traps and slow foursomes ahead of them. The regulars at Lakeshore Country Club in Greece, New York, had a different kind of obstacle to contend with last weekend: a red SUV fleeing from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, airborne across the first fairway.
The pursuit originated in the Charlotte area before making its way onto the course just before 5 p.m. on Sunday. The driver crossed a road, cleared a ditch, cut through the first fairway and kept going all the way to the 18th green. At that point, with what one assumes was diminishing options and a failing radiator, the driver bailed out of the still-moving vehicle and took off on foot.
Officers gave chase near the 18th hole and into the surrounding neighborhood. The car, for its part, gave up its radiator on the driving range as a kind of parting gift. A separate video captured the damage left behind on the range, which probably ruined at least a few people’s warm-up routines…
