ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Just days after announcing his death, Zane Johnson’s loved ones gathered on the Driving Park bridge in Rochester Sunday evening to celebrate his life, share memories, and release balloons as a symbol of remembrance.Zanes family says this is another stage in the process of acceptance.“It’s kind of like finality. There’s not really any words.” Said Zane’s uncle Brian PittsEach balloon carrying love, and the colors holding a symbolic meaning.“Red and white were a couple of his favorite color, so they just were the natural choices.”During the time of heartbreak for the family, Pitts says seeing so many people come together to honor Zane brings him joy.“The outpouring of people from the community is really unbelievable. This of course, even more sad that it takes something like this to bring communities together.”As the family continues to navigate their grief, the promise to keep Zanes memory alive Brian says will always live on.“Zane is the best kid anyone could have asked for. He was just extremely positive. He just wanted have fun and please people. Just an extremely pleasant child.”
Although the family has confirmed Zane’s death, Rochester police says they are still waiting for the medical examiner’s office to identify the body…
