ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Syracuse teen who was driving a stolen car that was involved in a shooting with an Onondaga County Sheriff’s Deputy in September was arrested in Rochester after being caught in a stolen car, Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick confirmed on Sunday, Jan. 28.

The teen was officially charged in Monroe County with possession of stolen property, which is a felony in the county, Fitzpatrick confirmed. The 17-year-old is also under investigation for other crimes, including burglary, in the Rochester area.

On Sept. 6, the teen was allegedly driving a stolen car with 15-year-old Lueth Mo and 17-year-old Dhal Apet, and they burglarized two smoke shops.

The car was then spotted in DeWitt by Onondaga County Sheriff’s Deputy John Rosello. Rosello shot at the car as it drove away from the scene and killed Mo and Apet.

Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley has defended Rosello’s action, saying the driver was trying to run him over.
