Canandaigua man sentenced to 20 years in prison for rape

ROCHESTER, N.Y., (WROC) — The Ontario County District Attorney’s Office has announced the sentencing of a man to 20 years in prison for rape.

According to the DA’s office, Jeffrey Kuney, 45, of Canandaigua was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison with 20 years post-release supervision for his conviction for rape in the first degree, along with 4 years in prison and 10 years post-release supervision for rape in the third degree.

According to the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office, this case only covered one of Kuney’s four victims. Kuney will still be tried for the sexual assault of three other women. That trial is scheduled to begin May 15 in Ontario County Court.

“We truly hope we know of all of Kuney’s victims, however, given what we know about his actions there is a likelihood that we do not. We would encourage anyone who was the victim of this man to come forward by calling the New York State Police Troop E,” said Assistant District Attorney Kristin Sippel.
