Dewey Ave. Barber to give out free bikes to Rochester kids Saturday

ROCHESTER. N.Y. (WROC) — Saturday morning at 9 a.m., kids in Rochester can go to the Quicks Mane Event Barbershop on Dewey Avenue to pick up free bikes.

Bikes are first-come, first-served, and the kids only need a parent to accompany them, present ID, and sign a waiver. The owner says he’s doing this so kids can get some fresh air and see the neighborhood with their friends.

“You get a chance to go see your friends on a bike. Your parents don’t want to take you anywhere. When I was young, they didn’t want to take me everywhere, so you jumped on your bike with your friends, and you saw the neighborhood. That’s how we saw the neighborhood, through our bikes,” said Stacy Quickhardy, owner of Quick’s Mane Event. “It’s a great feeling. This is my first time ever doing it, I hope I can make them smile, it would be my first time giving a bike away— first time, first time ever.”…
