Can I-PASS stickers be shared between vehicles?

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The retiring Illinois Tollway hard plastic transponders can be shared between cars, as long as each vehicle’s license plate is registered on the associated account.

However, the Tollway says the new FasTrak stickers are not designed to be moved between vehicles.

The I-PASS stickers were made available this month at customer service centers including the Belvidere Oasis, at 2510 Pearl Street, at Jewel-Osco stores, Road Ranger gas stations, and on the I-PASS website .

Authorities say the stickers are smaller, less expensive than the boxes drivers have been using for years, and do not expire, unlike the transponders.

The stickers use radio frequency identification to communicate with the tolls, eliminating the need for batteries.

There is no deposit fee for I-PASS Sticker Tags. For customers with current transponders, the $10 transponder deposit will be transferred into their pre-paid toll accounts once a new I-PASS Sticker Tag is registered to the account.
