Roscoe Porter Park $1M expansion includes Perryville bike path connection

Roscoe’s Porter Park at 6598 Windflower Lane will undergo a $1 million expansion and facelift thanks to a $500,000 matching state grant.

What kind of grant did the village receive?

An Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant, a competitive grant program managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

How much was the grant?

$531,328, which will be matched by the village.

How will the money be used?

The primary focus will be developing the western 12 acres of the park acquired by the village in 2022 and integrating the new property into the existing 28-acre park across the roadway at Windflower Lane and McDonald Road.

“This expansion is not just about adding space but about enriching the lives of our residents and visitors,” Village Administrator Joe Kurlinkus said. “It’s about building a stronger, healthier and more connected community.”
