Hundreds gather in downtown Freeport for fifth annual Pretzel Fest

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) – Hundreds of people gathered in the Pretzel City Saturday for a day filled with activities, celebrations and even an attempt at breaking a world record.

The fifth annual Pretzel Fest took place April 25 in downtown Freeport.

The Great Pretzel Bite kicked off the festivities, with tons of participants coming together to try and take a record-breaking, synchronized bite of their pretzels.

After, residents were free to enjoy all the foods, entertainment and family-friendly fun that Pretzel Fest had to offer. Some activities included axe throwing, a petting zoo and inflatables.

“After last year’s amazing record-breaking success, the energy and commitment to all things pretzel is apparent. But this event is about more than just pretzels,” said Greater Freeport Partnership Main Street Manager Katie Gentz. “It’s about bringing people together, creating shared experiences, and celebrating what makes Freeport special.”…
