Stolen mail, passport found in vehicle after Rancho Cordova police stop

(FOX40.COM) — Rancho Cordova police arrested two suspects after officers recovered stolen mail, including a passport and financial documents, during a traffic stop tied to a reported mail theft investigation.

According to the Rancho Cordova Police Department, officers recently responded to a report of a mail theft that had just occurred at a community mailbox. The caller told dispatchers she saw an unknown woman exit a vehicle and remove mail from the mailbox before leaving the area.

The witness provided officers with a description of the suspect vehicle and its license plate number. Officers quickly found the vehicle nearby and conducted an enforcement stop.

The driver and front-seat passenger were detained while officers investigated, RPD said.

Police reported that a search of the vehicle uncovered numerous pieces of opened and unopened mail belonging to residents and addresses throughout Rancho Cordova. Investigators also recovered a passport, financial documents and other personal mail items…
