Fix 50 construction worker killed, driver in custody after deadly collision

A woman is facing charges of felony vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run and driving under the influence following a deadly crash early Monday that knocked a road construction worker from a Highway 50 overpass onto Stockton Boulevard, said the California Highway Patrol.

The worker was on the ongoing Fix 50 project when the driver fatally struck him about 12:30 a.m. Monday, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The driver, identified by CHP officials as Ruby Lorenzo, 24, of Escalon, was taken into custody after trying to flee the crash. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office booking information was not immediately available…
