(FOX40.COM) — A bridge was shut down after a homeless encampment fire began to spread to its structure Wednesday, fire officials said.
Just after 8 a.m., the Sacramento Fire Department responded to the San Juan Bridge at Northgate Boulevard and Mable Street in north Sacramento after reports of a fire, the Sacramento Fire Department said.
Crews arrived on the scene to find that a fire that started in a homeless encampment had spread to the structure of the bridge. Firefighters entered through a manhole to check for any additional fire.
