Firefighters responding to a vehicle crash in Arden Arcade Monday morning discovered the driver had apparently been shot, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. at the 3300 block of Fulton Avenue at Edison Avenue, and the driver was taken to a hospital. The person’s condition was not immediately known.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel were the first on scene and found the driver with a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office, as reported by The Sacramento Bee. Authorities had not released whether they were searching for a suspect, where the shooting occurred, or what led to the shooting.

The district maintains six fire stations within the unincorporated area, including the historic Firehouse 101 and Firehouse 102, which have served the community for decades.
