Denny’s Is Toast as Toasted Rooster Targets Greenback Hot Spot

Toasted Rooster Cafe is gearing up to slide into one of Orangevale’s most recognizable spots on Greenback Lane. The Sacramento breakfast and brunch favorite is expected to take over the former Denny’s at 8841 Greenback Lane, trading out a longtime 24-hour diner for a neighborhood-style cafe.

According to the Sacramento Business Journal, Toasted Rooster has been identified as the new tenant for the Greenback Lane property, and the Denny’s that once operated there has permanently closed. If the deal moves forward, the Orangevale address would become Toasted Rooster’s second location in addition to its Sacramento flagship.

Toasted Rooster runs its original cafe at 1650 Fulton Avenue in Sacramento and describes itself as a women-owned breakfast and brunch spot serving waffles, skillets and chicken-fried steaks, per Toasted Rooster’s website. KMAX-TV’s Good Day Sacramento recently featured the cafe, spotlighting its brunch lineup and easygoing, local hangout vibe.

Former Denny’s and the Greenback corridor

The Denny’s at 8841 Greenback Lane now shows as closed on Denny’s locations page, confirming the site is no longer operating as a diner. That shutdown lines up with a broader national retrenchment by the chain.
