SACRAMENTO, California — Jonathan Matthew Curl, a 36-year-old from Sacramento, has been sentenced to two years in prison for his role in a conspiracy to transport stolen property across state lines.
Curl was also ordered to pay $282,193 in restitution, according to U.S. Attorney Eric Grant. Court documents reveal that Curl collaborated with Trevor Fountain, 38, of Sacramento; Stephan James Evanovich, 46, of Placerville; and Andrea Carter, 35, formerly of Sacramento, to illegally access communications towers and steal rectifiers and other equipment. Rectifiers are essential for maintaining power at these towers.
Curl used access information from his employers to facilitate the thefts, which he shared with his co-conspirators. The stolen equipment was transferred to Evanovich, who then sold it to legitimate vendors in California, Illinois, Colorado, and Texas.
