ST. LOUIS – The historic Annie Malone headquarters in north St. Louis is facing renewed challenges as it has been broken into for a third time, compounding damage from a May 16 tornado and winter’s burst pipes. Thieves are targeting the vacant building, stealing valuable materials and hindering ongoing restoration efforts.
The Malone campus has served children and families in St. Louis for well over a century. Contractors working to restore the organization’s headquarters report that the repeated thefts are creating additional setbacks during an already difficult recovery period for the facility, which has been vacant since the tornado.
