‘I feel like they didn’t treat my home the way they would treat theirs’: St. Louis homeowner disputes tornado repair work, refuses to sign off

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A St. Louis homeowner who turned to the city’s home repair program after a May 16 tornado damaged her house said she is not satisfied with the work done and refuses to sign paperwork indicating the repairs are complete.

Linda Smotherman has lived in her home for nearly 30 years. She said the city provided her with meals, temporary housing, a couch and other furniture while repairs were underway — but she said the work itself was not finished properly.

“When they started on it, and they didn’t complete it,” Smotherman said. “You know, they just wanted to just get in and get out. And now they want me to sign the paperwork, and I don’t know why because I’m not satisfied.”…
