CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill. (First Alert 4) – Three months after Cahokia Heights launched an initiative to clean up abandoned properties, neighbors say the efforts are making a noticeable difference.
In one neighborhood, two abandoned homes that once stood vacant have been demolished.
“I really like it because it was kind of a distraction,” resident Steve Smith said, adding that the change has motivated others nearby. “It makes people want to take care of their lawn. And feel better about where they live.”…
