Analog revives an old-school photo booth experience in a new south St. Louis space

Inside a small storefront in St. Louis’ Tower Grove South neighborhood, a camera shutter and lights pop off, and a 70-year-old machine hums to life. About three minutes later, a strip of developed film with four photos on it shoots out of the machine.

Two St. Louisans are betting people will wait for that process, especially in an era of instant photography.

Hannah Hamer and Tim Garrett are the minds behind Analog, a boutique photobooth studio opening Friday on Morgan Ford Road in Tower Grove South. The shop centers on a growingly rare, mid-century machine that develops photo strips using traditional chemistry.
