St. Louis lost 8% of its residents since 2020

ST. LOUIS — The scale of the city of St. Louis’ population woes are clearer with new U.S. Census figures and an analysis from a demographer.

The city lost 7.7% of its population from 2020 to 2025, ending at 278,144 residents. That’s off by 23,205 residents over the period, according to an analysis from Ness Sandoval, professor of sociology and demography at Saint Louis University.
