When the Trump administration enacted the so-called “Muslim ban” in 2017, Roads & Kingdoms took action. The James Beard- and Emmy-winning food and travel media company — co-founded by Nathan Thornburgh and co-led, at that time, by Anthony Bourdain — launched the Banned Countries Dinner Series.
It was a short series that highlighted rich food cultures and raised money for communities impacted by the travel ban.
In January, Roads & Kingdoms launched the series’ spiritual successor, the Anti-ICE Supper Club, an ongoing series of ticketed meals that raise funds for local organizations supporting immigrant communities.
“A lot of years have passed [since that series] and Tony had died, but we were looking at this new series of outrages that are just on such a vastly larger scale and realized that everything we did with Bourdain was just a test run for this moment,” Thornburgh tells Bring Me The News…
