Grenade launcher found by deputies during search of Minneapolis home

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office made a rare discovery while it conducted a search warrant on a Minneapolis home: a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

Authorities said a fugitive and firearms investigation led to the discovery of the suspected RPG-7, which was determined to be an “inert round,” meaning it wasn’t an active explosive.

Deputies also found two handguns — one of them modified with an auto sear, or “switch” — and a quantity of fentanyl powder.

Two men were arrested at the home. Charges were submitted but have been deferred by the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for additional testing and investigation.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Violent Offender Task Force is continuing to investigate.
