Pass-a-Grille Shuffleboard Club members upset with new clubhouse design

ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. — The City of St. Pete Beach has issued a request for proposals to build a new shuffleboard clubhouse in Pass-a-Grille, which some club members warn does not meet their needs.

“An open pavilion just doesn’t work for us,” said member Alan Stalb. “It may keep us out of the rain, if the wind isn’t blowing, but that’s about it.”

According to the RFP, the city has $170,000 to build a clubhouse. The design guidelines call for a pavilion-type structure with a bathroom and storage area. Stalb said members like the bathroom but call the storage area too small and they want walls on the building…
