St. Petersburg event venue refunds all customers after sudden closure

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A St. Petersburg company that filed for bankruptcy earlier this month has refunded the customers who put down deposits on an event space before its abrupt closure, after 8 On Your Side spoke to a couple who said they were left scrambling to find a new wedding venue.

Veytia Ventures, LLC — the parent company for Red Mesa Cantina and Red Mesa Events — said in a news release that all affected clients have been fully refunded after receiving a bankruptcy judge’s approval.

“Our immediate priority has always been our clients and ensuring they are treated fairly,” said the Veytias of Veytia Ventures. “Following our closure, we wanted to communicate with our guests as quickly as possible. Due to the court’s ruling and legal process, we were legally prohibited from issuing refunds until authorization was granted. Once we were permitted to move forward, we and our attorney worked diligently to get in front of the judge and pushed toexpedite the process so our guests could be refunded as quickly as possible.”…
