August, historically, is not a terribly busy month for the performing arts in the Tampa Bay area. It’s too hot, and the snowbirds aren’t here yet with their spending money, so things slow to a trickle. It happens every year.
Yet there are shows, and good ones, because a whole lot of us live here year-round, and steamy August or no, we like to be entertained. Preferably in the air-conditioning.
