TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. – Treasure Island is set to receive a significant $1,600,000 federal investment this Tuesday to overhaul its aging wastewater infrastructure, a move aimed at preventing system failures and unsanitary backups during Florida’s heavy rain events.
Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna secured the funding to support a comprehensive lining project for the city’s wastewater collection system. The initiative targets the city’s network of more than 122,000 linear feet of pipes, most of which are made of vitrified clay and date back to the 1940s through the 1970s.
